From Scalpels to Paintbrushes: A Successful Pinot’s Palette Fundraiser for the Class of 2016
PA Class of 2016 holding up their artwork.
The graduate class recently held our first big fundraising event for our white coat ceremony. The white coat ceremony is planned and funded by the class members and is always a spectacular evening. However, a lot of money is needed to be raised in order to hold the event. This fundraiser was primarily planned by graduate student Amanda Falco with help from her peers. The event took place at Pinots Palette, a wine and paint bar on Staten Island. Many students from the graduating class, as well as professors, friends, and family came to support the class of 2016. Upon arrival, guests could indulge in delicious foods and desserts donated from restaurants around the island and participate in some cool raffles. Everyone had their eyes on the iPad mini! Guests could also order wine at the bar to help get their creative juices flowing. We then settled in front of our canvases and were walked through the steps of painting a picture of a tilted wine bottle and
wine glass with many electric colors in the background. We all had a blast learning to paint and using our artistic license to make each painting our own. It was really cool to see how different everyone's painting came out even though we all painted the same image. It was a great opportunity to relax, socialize, and come together to support our class. The event, overall, was very successful as we put a dent into our fundraising goal! I for one am excited to see what events are planned for the future and would encourage everyone to come out and support the class of 2016! I promise you won't be disappointed!
